Navy wants a flight-certified dual-turret laser-comms and timing system
NIWC Atlantic is soliciting a prototype demonstration of a flight-certified, aero-optically resilient dual-turret optical communications and optical time-transfer system for ground, littoral, and airborne use.

- Prototype Submission
What they’re asking for
The notice says high-threat EW and GPS/RF-denied operations break Navy/Marine/joint C2 that needs high bandwidth and timing without RF or SATNAV. FSOC and optical clocks can help, but aircraft boundary layers, shock, jitter, SWaP, and drag wreck commercial gimbals that lack airworthiness and PAT loops. NIWC wants to prototype and demonstrate a dual-turret optical comms and time-transfer system across those regimes.
How to respond
A submission on SAM.gov against AOI 27-A001 / N6523626S0001. Read the attached instructions for format.
